Can I target shipping rates by their actual price?
Yes. Delivery Customization can target the actual checkout price Shopify provides for each shipping rate, not only the rate name shoppers see.
This is useful when the rate amount is more reliable than the title:
- hide free shipping below an order threshold
- rename rates that are actually free, even if the title does not say “free”
- move rates priced at a specific amount
- group economy, premium, or freight rates by price bands
Available price targets
Section titled “Available price targets”| Target | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Free shipping (price is 0) | Rates whose checkout price is exactly 0 |
| Price equals | A specific shipping amount |
| Price is less than or equal to | Low-cost or economy bands |
| Price is greater than or equal to | Expensive express, premium, or freight rates |
| Price is between | A bounded price range |
Example: hide free shipping below a threshold
Section titled “Example: hide free shipping below a threshold”Use Hide with:
- shipping target: Free shipping (price is 0)
- condition: Subtotal amount is at most your threshold, such as
50
That targets rates that are actually free at checkout. It does not depend on the rate name containing “free”.
Preview behavior
Section titled “Preview behavior”Price targets are evaluated at checkout. The admin preview can list your stored shipping rate names, but Shopify does not provide live checkout quote prices there, so price rows are labeled as checkout-price rules.
