Show or Hide Shipping by Customer Tag or Discount

Use Customer tag or Discount conditions to control which shipping rates appear. Common scenarios: wholesale-only rates, VIP free shipping, or hiding a rate when a large discount is applied.

Setup — show a rate only for tagged customers

The simplest pattern: hide the rate for everyone except tagged customers.

1. Create customization > Hide shipping methods.
2. Add Customer tag → Is not any of → wholesale (or your tag). This means the rule fires for customers who do not have the tag.
3. Under Hide, target the rate: Store rates or Contains text with the rate name.
4. Active, Save, and verify at checkout with a tagged and an untagged customer.

Show a rate when a discount is active

Replace the customer tag condition with Discount percentage → At most → 59 (i.e. fire when discount is below 60%). The rate then only appears when the discount is 60% or more. Adjust the threshold and operator to your needs.

Alternatively, use Discount amount → No discount to hide a rate unless a discount is applied.

Guest checkout

Customer tag requires the buyer to be logged in. Guest customers will not match the tag, so the rate will be hidden for them. If that’s not desired, pair the tag condition with Buyer is authenticated → Is false in an OR group so guests see the default behaviour.
